Jillian Joseph serves as Managing Director and Associate General Counsel at Nuveen, the asset management arm of TIAA. In this role, Jillian supports Nuveen Real Estate – one of the largest real estate investment managers in the world with $156 billion in assets under management.

Jillian is one of the lead attorneys over approximately $6 billion of loan originations each year in fixed rate mortgage financing, floating rate mezzanine lending, and structured debt offering. In addition to her extensive debt leadership, Jillian also supports the equity business with property acquisitions and dispositions, complex joint ventures, portfolio investments, fund investments and REITS.

Outside of TIAA, Jillian serves as a Corporate Director on the Board of Carver Federal Savings Bank (NASDAQ: CARV) a publicly traded federally chartered stock savings bank founded in 1948 to provide banking and financial resources to African American communities. She serves on Carver’s Institutional Strategy, Compliance and Finance Committees.

Jillian is also the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation. The Brooklyn Navy Yard is a 300-acre mission-driven industrial park, home to 450+ businesses employing more than 11,000 people and generating over $2.5 billion per year in economic impact for the city.
Prior to TIAA, Jillian spent five years as Executive Counsel for GE Capital’s Real Estate Business and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP. While at Skadden, Jillian represented Empire State Development Corporation in connection with its Atlantic Yards Project, the $4 Billion mixed-use development that includes the sports arena for the Brooklyn Nets, “Barclay’s Center”.

Jillian earned her J.D. with honors from University of Pennsylvania Law School and her undergraduate degree cum laude from Colgate University.
She resides in Brooklyn New York with her husband and two children.
